Choosing The Right Anime For Your Kids
When you think of anime for kids, it’s easy to get stuck on the mass-produced craziness of shows like Pokemon, Digimon, and Yu-Gi-Oh– you know: cheap storylines, a billion episodes, and hundreds of dollars worth of collectible crap. But that’s…
Hayao Miyazaki's Latest Animated Film: 'The Wind Rises'
I can hardly believe it has been six years since Miyazaki's last film, "Ponyo". I don't know what it is, but I seem to fall in love with every one of his movies. I get very emotional when I see the ending credits roll. This man is a mastermind in making epic animated films that have yet to be beaten as a whole.
"The Wind Rises" is based on a novel, with the same name, by Tatsuo Hoshi and the manga by Miyazaki himself. The film is set in the World War II era. It details the main character, Jirc Horikoshi an aircraft engineer who is well known for his design work on the Mitsubishi A6M Reisen "Zero". (Japan's famous World War II fighter aircraft).
The film is being released July 20, 2013 in Japan, but the U.S. release date is yet to be announced. I can't wait to grab the DVD when it hits the market. Below, you can watch a short teaser of the film. Note: the teaser is in Japanese since it's not debuted yet in America.

Vampire Knight: Complete Series
Today I was looking through some of the boxes that I haven't unpacked yet to find one of my old sketchbooks. While searching for it, I found the Vampire Knight complete box-set that I was gifted from one of my brothers last year on my birthday. As you can see, it's still in it's package and I haven't sat down to enjoy it yet. I have read some of the manga, but haven't watched the series.
I first found out about this series through "Shojo Beat". It was a magazine catered to females with many advice columns, manga chapters, and recommendations. I use to buy the magazine every month until it stopped publishing. I'll, one day, show ya'll some photos of my magazine collection whenever I look for them.
